Crown Liquor Saloon is Belfast’s most iconic pub and one of the most beautiful in the world. It is also one of the few museums that everyone would want to visit
Crown Liquor Saloon, the most beautiful pub in Belfast
This beautiful pub is located on Great Victoria Street in the heart of Belfast.
It is distinguished by its flamboyant Victorian style, with Italian influences, which was intended to attract the attention of wealthier patrons. It has been open to the public since 1885, although its construction dates back to 1826.
It is one of the must-see places to visit in Belfast.

It maintains the typical snugs of the traditional Irish pubs. The snugs are private spaces separated by wooden partitions. If you love Peaky Blinders, Garrison Pub will surely come to mind.
It also retains an old-fashioned bell system so you can order without having to leave your seat.

Today, Crown Liquor Saloon is owned by the National Trust. So the idea of sipping a beer in a real museum doesn’t sound so crazy. They also serve craft beers from Whitewater Brewery – don’t leave without trying one!

Want to know a fun fact about the name of this place?
Legend has it that Flanangan (Catholic) and his wife (Protestant) argued over the name of the pub. She won and its current name Crown honours the British monarchy. In revenge, Flanangan decided to place a mosaic in the shape of a crown on the pavement at the entrance. That way, it would be trodden on every day.
